Windows 7 – CA client update

You can’t have missed the recent launch of Windows 7 –  Microsoft’s new flagship operating system .

It has been a long time coming for the SMB / Corporate sector most IT Managers elected to stay with Windows XP rather than make the move to Vista.

Vista failed to present a compelling reason to upgrade and the performance of XP remained superior.

Interestingly Microsoft is still offering support of the XP platform for another 5 years which reduces the urgency to upgrade to W7.

Computing Australia has preferred to keep our clients on a consistent platform – retaining  XP Professional as the standard operating system.

Keeping sites on a single and unified operating system makes maintaining and managing the site far easier while keeping costs low for the client.

We have been testing Windows 7 alongside XP in our own company for several weeks without any issue to raise concern so we would expect to start implementing W7 with new systems if requested.
